Use the Mobile App or Desktop Site

Now that you’ve found a city or airport that carries Tesla Model 3s near you, you can use the Hertz mobile app or desktop site to reserve a rental. Afterward, you’ll need to select dates and times for picking and dropping off. You might have more luck with deals, discounts, and promotions using the mobile app.

Hertz currently offers Tesla Model 3s with all rear-wheel drive and the default range of around 260 miles. However, Hertz has limitations, including that you can’t rent and drop off at separate locations, and self-driving is disabled.

Picking Up Your Tesla Model 3 from Hertz

After confirming your rental, you’ll have a chance to pick up and test drive your Tesla Model 3. Beforehand, Hertz will send you several emails describing how to unlock the doors, start the vehicle, and put it into park. Depending on the situation, it can cost around $10 to $15. to charge the Tesla Model 3 battery fully. The total cost per mile is approximately $0.04 in most cases. The Tesla Model 3 can charge to 50% in just 16 minutes and 80% in 32 minutes using a Tesla Supercharging Station.

Does Hertz Offer Free Charging?

Hertz offered free charging for Tesla 3 rentals through March 1, 2022. Afterward, Hertz includes all charging expenses on the credit card you rented the vehicle with. In addition, Hertz requests customers return Tesla rentals with at least 10% battery life.

But they aren’t currently charging additional fees for customers who return EVs with low battery life. Hertz hasn’t confirmed if they’ll provide free charging in the future.
